On Chios Island you will quickly get used to the advantages of stony beaches: You don’t have sand everywhere in your beach bag and after you put sun lotion you will not look like a giant Schnitzel! But of course sometimes we all need a little sand in our holidays at one point and don’t you worry: Of course an Island as multifaceted as Chios has many different types of beaches and the best example for a perfect sand beach is KOMI!

Komi beach is located in the south part of the island and is one of a few sandy beaches of Chios. It is about 20 kilometers away from Chios city, 4 km outside the village of Kalamoti. You can get there by public transportation, car or motorbike.

On this long beach you can find everything what tourists need on their holidays – umbrellas, sunbeds, restaurants, cafeterias and rooms for rent. There are also many nice taverns with fresh fishes and bars where you can have drinks. During the summer music festivals and parties take place there, just ask some local youngsters about it because especially in the weekends it seems like the population of whole chios island is on Komi.

So if you like to relax on a beautiful beach with people of every age around, you should go there as soon as possible. And if you are more the active, sporty kind of vacationer, don’t forget a volley ball and have some fun!
